Principal Talk with Mrs Lowe
My first week at St Matthew's has been fantastic! I would like to thank you all for making me feel so welcome. I have found the St Matthew's staff, students, and parents/carers to be dedicated and enthusiastic and I look forward to getting to know you and supporting your child with their learning journey.
St. Matthew's Annual Improvement Plan: Fostering Growth and Community Engagement
At St. Matthew's, the staff are committed to continuous growth and development, not just for our students but for our entire community. Our Annual Improvement Plan serves as a roadmap to guide us toward our goals.
This year, our three key areas of focus are improving knowledge and understanding of Religious Education, enhancing student achievement in English and Mathematics, and fostering partnerships within our community.
1. Enhancing Knowledge and Understanding of Religious Education
Religious Education is at the heart of our school's mission, and we are dedicated to deepening our students' knowledge and understanding in this area. Through curriculum enhancements, explicit content and connection to the new CECG Scope Sequence, we aim to provide our students with a solid foundation in religious teachings and values. By nurturing spiritual growth and encouraging critical thinking, we believe our students will develop a deeper appreciation for diversity, empathy, and integrity.
2. Improving Student Achievement in English and Mathematics
Literacy and numeracy skills are essential for success in both academic and real-world settings. That's why we are prioritising efforts to enhance student achievement in English and Mathematics. Through targeted interventions, high-impact teaching practice (including explicit instruction and daily review), differentiated instruction, and the integration of technology, we strive to empower every student to reach their full potential. By fostering a supportive learning environment and providing personalised support, we aim to equip our students with the skills and confidence they need to excel academically and beyond.
3. Fostering Partnerships in the Community
At St. Matthew's, we recognise the importance of collaboration and community involvement in supporting student success. That's why we are committed to strengthening partnerships within our local community. Whether it's through volunteer opportunities, social events, fundraising, or collaborative projects, we seek to engage parents, families, businesses, and organisations in enriching the educational experience for our students. By working together, we can create a supportive network that promotes a sense of belonging and unity within our community.
As we embark on this journey of growth and collaboration, we invite all members of the St. Matthew's community to join us in our efforts to achieve these goals. Together, we can positively impact our students' lives and build a stronger, more vibrant community for generations to come.
Welcome Prayer Celebration & Year Six Induction
To welcome the new school year, we invite families to join us for our Welcome Prayer Celebration and Year Six Leadership Induction tomorrow at 9.00am in the School Hall.
Swimming Carnival
What a fantastic day was had by all on Tuesday for our annual Swimming Carnival.
Firstly I would like to thank our event coordinators Daniel Hnt and Dillon Payne, their thorough organisation ensured the day ran smoothly from start to finish.
I would also like to thank the staff and parent helpers - without their support, the carnival would not have been able to proceed. A special thank you to Miss Judd for the beautiful photographs.
Last but certainly not least, I would like to congratulate all of the students who participated in the School Swimming Carnival. I am incredibly impressed by the level of enthusiasm, sportsmanship, and effort displayed by every student. Whether competing in individual events, novelty activities, or cheering on their classmates from the sidelines, there were countless examples of outstanding behaviour.
As a newcomer to the St Matthew's school community, I am impressed by the passionate and dedicated staff and parents who are willing to go above and beyond to support the students. Thank you!

Drive Through Drop-Off and Pick-Up
Please be aware that the police occasionally patrol Stutchbury Street during our morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up times. At the end of last year, some parents were booked by the police whilst lining up to drop off or collect their children. The following procedures will ensure that you do not get booked by police:
- Enter Stutchbuty Street from Chewings Street
- Whilst you are lining up, remain close to the centre line, with your right indicator on
- if you are parking near the Junior Playground on Stutvhbury Street, only park in the designated car parks
Thank you for your assistance in making the morning and afternoon procedures run smoothly.
ICT Use Agreement, Social Media and Student Images
At St Matthew’s, we use Facebook to enable you to stay connected with your child/children’s learning. The purpose of this page is to share with you and the community the great things that happen at St Matthew's. You can 'Follow' our Facebook Page by clicking this link: https://www.facebook.com/stMatthewsPrimarySchoolPage/
Sometimes, we would like to post pictures or videos of our students on our Facebook page. For example, we may post pictures of school events such as special guest speakers/visitors, Book Week, sporting events (Athletics Carnival, Swimming Carnival, etc) and other exciting things happening at our wonderful school.
Our school may also be involved in school events throughout the year, where a photographer and potentially other commercial media outlets may attend to capture photos and footage of the event.
Please complete this form if you DO NOT permit photographs and/or video footage of your child/ren taken at school events and activities to be posted on our school Facebook page or other media channels. Families who have already specified that they do not want us to publish their children's images do not need to complete this form.
