Good News (REC)

Congratulations.jpg

Congratulations to our Year Three students who made their First Holy Communion last week. We celebrated three Masses across three nights with the communicants and their families. It was a beautiful occasion where we all came together as one body in Christ. The students read beautifully and performed a liturgical movement to John Burland’s, Do this in memory of Me. It was a blessed occasion with students remarking how excited and special they felt. Thank you to Fr Simon for saying the Masses across the week.

We also congratulate Millicent Fletcher in Year Three who will be Baptised on Friday November 20. We keep her and her family in our prayers. May God’s grace rest upon them on this special day and always.

Remembrance Day

On Wednesday last week our school commemorated Remembrance Day with a thoughtful liturgy led by our Year 6 leaders. Students came together in their classrooms to remember in faith, all who have served and continue serving in our armed forces, especially those who have died and those wounded in battle. We prayed for healing and peace; that one day, all peoples will lay down their arms and embrace one another as brothers and sisters in one human family with peace.

SVDP Christmas Hamper Appeal

Thank you to all the families who have returned their reply note with details of their generous donation. In order for families not to double up on certain items, you are asked to indicate your preference and return the reply form on the letter that was sent home to the classroom teacher as soon as possible who will then confirm with you. There are a number of things you can buy to help these families.

These include:

  • A present for a member of the family
  • Christmas cake, biscuits, lollies, chocolates, or another sort of Christmas treat that is a packaged non-perishable Christmas food.
  • You may find it difficult to provide suitable gifts for older teenage children, so we suggest giving them a gift voucher to shops/outlets more appropriate to their liking.

Please note that the gifts need to be labelled in the following format, e.g. ‘Family A boy aged 5 ‘. Your child’s teacher should be replying to you very soon (if they haven’t already) to let you know what will suit the classes specific family.

Hampers will be presented to a member of our local St Vincent De Paul Conference on the morning of Tuesday 15 December. Thank you in anticipation of your generosity!
